We believe in simple, effective cleaning routines for families to ensure not only the health and wellbeing of their children but the longevity and performance of their cloth nappies.

Please note the below wash methods are not suitable for nappies shared between multiple households eg childcare centers
Steps To Perfectly Clean Nappies
1. After removing used nappies from child, knock or scrape solids into toilet bowl if needed and separate inserts from nappy shell
2. Store used nappies and liners in an airy, breathable basket for up to 48 hours, preferable 24 hours, before 1st wash
3. Place liners/inserts and nappy shells into washing machine and add laundry detergent to normal load recommendations, washing for at least an hour and at least 40*C
4. Store 1st washed nappies in the airy, breathable basket up to 7 days until you have a full load to complete your 2nd and final wash
5. Place liners/inserts and nappy shells into washing machine so it is fully loaded, adding any of babies additional washing as required, use a heavy load recommendation of detergent and wash for at least 2 hours and at least 60*C.
6. Hang to dry in the shade - liners/inserts can be hung in the sun if needed or can be gentle tumble dried.
Helpful Tips and Tricks!
- A wire basket with feet is perfect for storing dirty or 1st washed nappies, it allows maximum airflow which will prevent mould, smells and potential damage
- you can wash as few nappies in your first wash as needed, we recommend checking elastics for left over poo or stains and hand washing those out before storing them ready for their final wash
- A fully loaded washer for second washes is vital for correct agitation and cleaning of nappies - please ensure you have fully loaded your machine for second wash and with nothing bigger than a hand towel to ensure items don't get wrapped up and not washed properly - yes to baby clothes, no to towels!
- I personally recommend hanging clean nappies long ways, so the line is running from the front to the back, straight down the center, to prevent stretching and get even more life from your leg elastics
- Good machine maintenace and hygiene is essential - always clean your machine once a month and leave the door open after each use to prevent mould
